Life is busy, life is full and as much as I wish for it to slow down sometimes, life is good. Our weekends are filled with friends and family and travels. And our weeks are busy with work and small group and trying to squeeze in some quality time with each other. But time is flying by and I am thankful to enjoy it. Here’s a quick recap of our lives the past few months according to my iphone:
We spent a weekend in October with the Neely family at Pawley’s Island. It always feels good to be near the water. Something about it..
We saw John Legend in concert for the first time. A-mazing. If you get the chance, go. I’m now stalking tour dates because that definitely won’t be the last time.
My dear friend Ashima came to visit & she taught me how to cook Indian food!
And we went to the NC state fair. Note to self: Do not go the state fair on the opening weekend. ever. again.
We fostered this little pup named Tebow – & he melted my heart!
We went to visit these two lovebirds up in NYC.
Spent Thanksgiving down in SC with my parents.
Spent my first Christmas in NC with the Neelys!
Spent some time before Christmas in Blowing Rock with the Neelys.
Spent a weekend in VA beach with my college roomies watching a friend get married.
And most excitingly..
Welcomed this sweet, sweet baby nephew of mine into the world on December 14th. He is a joy and a blessing and we are so thankful for his life.
That’s a pretty short recap for what the past 3 months have entailed. But we will try to not be missing in action from this little blog again!
Can anyone else not stop watching No Reservations? Is anyone else insanely jealous that Tony gets to fly all over the globe and eat authentic food and experience the culture of so many cool places? Please, tell me how Ryan & I can figure out a way to do this. Dream job. Suriously.

“To read the papers and to listen to the news… one would think the country is in terrible trouble. You do not get that impression when you travel the back roads and the small towns do care about their country and wish it well.”
For Christmas, Ryan and I bought each other plane tickets to California. We returned last Sunday and it was quite possibly one of the best weeks of my life.
We drove down Highway 1 for an entire day – from San Francisco to Santa Barbara. It’s by far the prettiest place I’ve ever seen. And it is something that I believe everyone should do at least once at some point in their life. And if I had all the money in the world, I think I would live in that little house atop the hill – if you squint, you can see it.

Why hello there. I see you’ve found our blog. Now that you’re here, I think a proper introduction is in order.
I’m Ryan (in the tie) and Mackie is my lovely wife (in the wedding dress.) We were married July 18th, 2009 in beautiful Beaufort, SC and now live in Greensboro, NC with our Boxer/Pit mix Charlie – AKA Monster, AKA Monsieur, AKA plenty more nicknames I’m sure will come out later.
I work for an ad agency in Greensboro and Mackie works for a non-profit. We’re using this blog to help us better document our first year of marriage, while at the same time share random thoughts we have. Which will probably include, but are not limited to, fashion, food, beer, travel, dogs, crafts, and vintage European cars.
